Le 27 février 2021, lors du Pokémon Day, The Pokémon Company annonce la sortie future d'un album commémorant les vingt-cinq ans de la franchise. Il est dévoilé que l'album sera composé de quatorze morceaux et que Katy Perry y participera. Le 10 mai, Katy Perry officialise le titre du morceau ainsi que sa sortie prochaine.

Le single d'''Electric'' sort sur toutes les plateformes de streaming le 14 mai. Un clip officiel de la chanson sort en même temps sur la chaine YouTube de Katy Perry.

Le 15 juin 2021, une vidéo officielle des paroles sort sur la chaîne YouTube internationale de The Pokémon Company.

== Clip ==

Le clip a été tourné à Hawaï en mars 2021 et réalisé par Carlos López Estrada, connu pour avoir réalisé ''Raya et le Dernier Dragon''.

Dans le clip, Katy et son [[Pikachu]] s'aventurent vers un phare qui les fait voyager dans le temps. On découvre alors une Katy plus jeune, accompagnée d'un [[Pichu]], qui essaye de devenir une chanteuse reconnue. Alors qu'elle s'apprête à baisser les bras, la Katy adulte et Pikachu redoublent secrètement d'efforts pour motiver Katy en lui suggérant un concours de talents. La jeune Katy y participe et rencontre un franc succès. Katy adulte ayant rempli sa mission, elle décide de retourner dans le présent avec Pikachu.
